The image is as clear to me as any memory I possess although some of the details leading up to it have become hazy over the past few decades. I was in my early teens I think, but I don't remember exactly, and it was about bedtime. But I remember Mom and Dad sitting in the living room together as Mom watched television and Dad was reading the evening paper. I had finished up the dishes from dinner and as I was walking across the living room to go upstairs to bed, Mom said something to me to which I made some response. I don't remember what either of us said or even the general topic of the exchange, but I'll never forget the few seconds that followed.

Elain Kelly - Support Pastor

One recent afternoon the mail brought the November 2002 issue of Good Housekeeping magazine. I stopped my other activities to scan the contents. Because I had been writing thank you notes, the article entitled, The Power of Thank You, caught my attention. Let me share with you some thoughts from the author as well as some of my own reflections.

What response do we receive when we say “Thank you” to someone for a gift, a kind deed, a routine task where we have been the recipient? Have you noticed the smile that frequently lights up on the other’s face? possibly even a surprised look or an improvement in mood? the warm feeling that you both share? Wow!
We tend to assume that people know we appreciate their kindness even if we don’t go out of our way to say so. But we are not just saying what the other one wants to hear, we are reminding ourselves of the things that are most important to us. We are expressing our love to others-and being loved in return.

Tara Wilson - Youth Pastor

My name is Tara Wilson, and I am the new Youth Pastor at New Life Assembly of God. I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, and I am currently a student at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. God has granted me the desire to serve Him through youth ministry, and now I find myself working as a brand new youth pastor.

Thus far, the experience has been great. I am expecting God to do great and marvelous things with our youth of New Life Assembly of God. We are all very excited about the new things that God is going to do with the youth here at New Life. In fact, we’ve already jumped full force into the new year, and by the grace of God we’ll continue to make steady progress.

Weekly Scripture |
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit. " (Jeremiah 17:7-8)
